Review of child protection policies research
We reviewed studies on child protection policies in a variety of settings. We identify what may enable or prevent staff to follow these, and what helps policies to work well.

Providers’ survey topline findings
We conducted an online survey in July and August 2025 to gather feedback from service providers who support our care and protection work.
VOYCE: Advocacy for children in care
If you're a child or young person in care, you can connect with VOYCE – Whakarongo Mai. This is an independent advocacy service separate from Oranga Tamariki who can listen to and support you, and be on your side
They also organise fun events for kids with care experience so you can connect with others.
Practice Centre
The Practice Centre is an online resource aimed primarily at Oranga Tamariki practitioners.
It contains policy, guidance and tools to help us in our work with tamariki and rangatahi and their whānau. The policies are our must-dos, and the guidance are our how-tos.
Eliminating family violence and sexual violence
Te Aorerekura is a national strategy to eliminate family violence and sexual violence. It aims to unify and drive government action.
Te Puna Aonui is the cross-agency group responsible for carrying out this work.
